Beastie Boyz

edit [shit I can't post Cyanid & Happiness comics]

Anyway, don't think I wanna go out to study anymore because in the end just talking and for me .. I end up laughing at other people's misery (inside joke).

After Amath remedial just now, went to study with Poh Shen, Jun Xiang, Shi Jie, Chris, Raphael & Timothy. Same people as yesterday. Went to Compass Point and had lunch first. Then after some time went to the library which is seriously not conducive to mug. The ambience really bleah lar. Then they wanted to go back to Hougang Mall. So blabla took MRT back to Hougang.

Followed Poh Shen to Singapore Post to ask how much registered mail is. He damn ass lar, cause we spent 10+ mins there and he didn't wanna ask. Then I went to see the newly opened Challenger at Hougang Mall. It's very small... cannot compare to the one at Funan lar. Then he followed me and then we went back and he asked the person there. Like finally.

Then went to the library where some were in the process of asking numbers. Shan't elaborate much. And guess where they settled at? The same as yesterday ... Children's Section! Like WTF?! Ok let me explain.

On weekdays (like yesterday) sitting at the children's section is fine. Whoop-dee-doo. Got 'kids'
On weekends it's bad because there are real kids in their pampers prancing around the books. Imagine how noisy it was. And seven 15-year olds are right smack in the middle of the pathway. Awkward.

Then in the end they walk around. Go up, go down .. seriously .. You cannot roam Hougang Mall more than 2 times. It's too damn small to 'roam'. Then I went home and sleep. Chuan Heng came and asked for History notes on British colonization on Malaya.

ahhh I can't find my old SS notes! The ones that have been compiled well by Mdm Punitha.. all the stuff on good governance or whatever... ahhh I can't flunk SS since my geog is like crap.

Here you go ..

IQ Test Score

The overly-cliched piece of online IQ test that's been circulating the local blogosphere.

Yagi Bushi

Just heard the choir's asian piece for SYF and it's nice. Called Yagi-Bushi and by Ken Matsuhita if I'm not wrong. Gonna arrange that TTBB score for instruments soon after MYEs. Ahh, got alot of stuff to arrange like Egmont Overture, Turkish Rondo and some others. Not gonna perform it though, just personal entertainment.

Anyway, haven't been studying lately (even though after the bullshit in the post below). Feel like doing emath questions. Dunno why, emath questions are fun... okay maybe only Matrices. Coordinate geo is bleah.

kgot to go slack.

Welcome to Ma-cow

Zzzz.

Yay I passed chem test. Did average since like 18 others in the level had the same percentage range. Checked physics .. failed as usual. Nearly passed ok, got 5/16 .. better than last time 2/16. All 3 a math & physics tests .. I have a red bar in the PTS.

Needa study already. Eng+SS on the first day! So mainly focus on SS then move on to Geog which I absolutely need a pass or hopefully, miraculously, snapsnapwhipseedoodly get an A2. Just need read and remember, and regurgitate it all out! But how do this when I've lost my textbook?! Need to blow $15+ bucks. Then Malay (peribahasasasa) and EMath! Do TYS and textbook qns. Thank god for labour day! And got 3 days to study for Pure Hist MW paper & PHYSICS!! Noooo, 2 major subjects noooo. Ok ok then ermm.. Chem (needa get an A2 :D) Then MATH P.2 & BIO! Ahh, light revision for math (maybe 30mins) and chiong bio. Then t3h d34dl3h A math. Do textbook qns, dunno if I can pass. Then last day of papers ... Pure Hist SEA paper.. this one .. 5 hours Vietnam, 3 hours Malaya then on to OOO Singapura, sunny island ..

French Fry Rhapsody

Need to buck up NOW. Most of the tests that I took this term I failed. A math, bio, err .. physics. I think I will pass my chem (unless I raise my hopes too high up again), and I passed my 2 malay tests .. unexpected.

Took my listening compre test and got 8/10 and peribahasa test that I never studied for and scraped an 11/20. & Billy's damn pro lar. I read the first passage on the first page finish and guess what? "Cikgu, dah habis". OMGWTFBBQ! 30 mins test done in 3 minutes!!

Anyway, gonna mug tonight. Heck care sleep lar, emulate Aaron and be Mr. EYEBAGS #2.
I know I'll be deadtired and tomorrow I have NAPFA 2.4km run which I will definitely fail, so just beat personal record .. 16mins ..

ahhh physics, bio, amath & SBQs! 3 deadly subjects and 1 major component.
add water. prevent from heat. not suitable for minors.

Concerto for Burger in Bb and Wind Band

Montfort are the champs for B div badminton nationals yay.
Though I have to admit, the match up between the SSS guy and Andrianus was the best. Though I was MIA having 10 cups of milo at the milo truck, when I came back.. walking past the SSS crowd.. they were on their toes. Then I went further to 'homeground', all were standing. Figures, SSS on the verge of winning game 3 with the score of 11-14 but Andrianus made a comeback with a win. Score : 17-14 :D

i misplace my geog bk :( what a way to end the day

191 = haro motto

studied Bio today. Still can't comprehend some stuff (though I'm only at chpt 2)

Went out to buy find the hallowed SS guidebook that Mr Yeo wrote (I think it exists :p) yea but can't find it Popular @ HG Mall. SO wanted to find some phy/chem/bio notes or whatever. Found a good one published by RedSpot. Explains thoroughly and they had a book on History of Malaya+SEA+Modern World. PURE HIST man, very rare in such a small Popular unit.

hmm, released at 1 for MSS badminton match at Jurong sports hall if memory (all alone in the moonlight) serves me right. It's cool la because can support Montfort's badminton team but it's bad too because will miss physics, english, history and bio. Phy, history and bio!!

die.

this blog is ugly :)

I wanna play Slava!,Tempered Steel & Jupiter :D

Teh Vun ahn Onleh = midnight ramblings

Spot the mistake.

Why is Alif holding a tenor sax while the guy beside him is brandishing a new YBS-62E while looking emo?

Heh, story goes back to the 1st outdoor rehearsal on Wednesday. Realized he couldn't play the school song well ... heh. Love the jazz sound the tenor makes even without trying that hard (even though that JK sucks). And the band's tenor line isn't that big.

Well, 7 trombones and 3 euphoniums ... okay la, tenor line is damn big, butttt no harm in injecting more tenor into the sound. Also no score for bari so .. heh. And Syakir was damn irritated because he had to hold my baritone.

And what I realize from indoor rehearsal that .. we were damn out of tune. From outdoor to indoor is a big transition. If 100% outdoor for that day, tuning no need much precision but changing to indoor .. tuner in need. I tuned the sax before playing. Do the math.

In-tune sax + out of tune band = sax not in tune to the band

cocacola light gives gassy stomach.

Slava!+

Been reading about the current hot-topic : The massacre at Virginia Tech done by Cho Seung Hui. I watched the videos, read it up at MSNBC and I conclude that this case is very very .. erm .. unique but similar to those crime shows on tv.

What freaks me out is his, what MSNBC calls .. his "multimedia manifesto". The pictures freak me out already because though yea.. it IS weird. But the dense words on the pieces of paper. DUDE, DENSE. Its like Time New Roman with font size 7 or something. That dense.

And I read his 2 scripts. Richard McBeef & Mr Brownstone. Okay, I was lazy to read Mr. Brownstone but Richard McBeef was seriously absurd. To summarize it : A guy called Richard McBeef is the stepfather. Then the son calls him Dick. Then Richard put his hand on the son's thigh. Then profanities fill the pages ahead. Then blablabla until the son stuffs a cereal bar into Richard's mouth and Richard kills him with a slap. I think.

Moving on, so for some reason he consideres Eric & Dylan martyrs?! What sort of martyrdom act did they do? Eric & Dylan killed 12 people (Columbine High Massacre : band people think Ticheli's "An American Elegy") suddenly. Same case though. Both are like outcasts then suddenly they snap. boom. Next you realize, you have a hole through your head. Well .. other people realize it .. not you.

Anyway, this case intrigues me because it ignites a former fire.

AHHHHH to bio hw, a math hw, malay hw & physics test.

SHUT IT.

SYF'07 for Secondary school bands is over.

But some people can't accept what their school got. Confession to be made, I can't accept what other schools got. So I don't really care about that.

But what I don't like is the damn rumours about conductor X being somehow affiliated to the adjudicators. I knew this rumour would somehow bare it's ugly face unto Singapore's band community and be the hot-topic until it fades away. And so it shows.

If that band has a good award and they didn't have have one in 2005, does that mean they don't deserve it? So their hardwork shouldn't be awarded just because they sucked last time? Don't come up with this rumours because X got link with Y. MAYBE they are true, but who are we to judge?

The 3 GwH bands I tip my hat off (figure of speech) and wish you good luck on presentation night.

No more bullshit rumours please, if wanna spread .. do it on a paper and keep it on your drawer and never let it out. Gosh, I'm hearing it from my junior also.

I've got more stuff to say but I got bio & chem test tomorrow. Can GG to chem and maybe to bio.

bottomline : don't drain your eyes, train your ________ (a word that means juniors and that rhymes with 'eyes')

ok I suck at bottomlining.

Odyssey of the Mind 2007

Montfort Secondary School - LTP5 Div III
Yea, we didn't win anything. Montfort SEC didn't win anything. But yea Montfort Junior won top of division. DUDE, the true Montfortian spirit rose up just now when they said Montfort Junior School. Even though we knew they won but as seniors we show gratitude. Crash chording then with "Montfort Let's go, LET'S GO!" a number of times. Wah lao, the whole hall was looking at us man. 3 teams + various others were shouting like mad asses. Our voices filled the whole hall .. better than the cliched screams of "AHHHHH" or "OOHHHH". Heh, the united-ness of Montfort Schools was shown.

MONTFORT JUNIOR OM - SHOW WHAT YOU CAN DO AT THE WORLD FINALS!

Anyway, more on us .. we got 6th out of 8 teams. Ahhh, if we didn't exceed the time limit, could've beaten Hwa Chong by 0.5 marks but what's done is done and hey, I'm satisfied. Can't expect much from our crappy set up called our OM presentation. The backdrops was only done 2 days ago and final stuff only yesterday night. First rehearsal was 1 hour before we had to board the bus! MSS OM tradition, last hour work (which in this case is literal). All was damn depressed but when me, Kok and Justin saw 30 secs of the OM performance .. we were kinda relieved. Then we started boosting in confidence. 2.50pm had to come so we performed and by that time I didn't care already because the audience's laughter was enough to reward me.

So yeah, we only beat 2 schools and my last OM year :( But maybe gonna coach the div 2 teams. Yea, OM has been a part of my life already. 8 months to solve (of which, 5 months won't do anything :D) I have taken revenged from last year's last position heh, now it's for the new DIV 2s!

ok I post few more pics. Matt send me the pics and the IJTP vid if Mrs Tan sent you.

spotted this during waiting for our turn on the spontaneous rounds.

No more competing in OM (though Joel gonna get Montfort Alumni to sponsor and to form a Montfort Alumni Group) but maybe gonna coach.

Aftermath is the prelude.

Aftermath of SYF.

In the concert hall, seating at the last row at the performer's area. There and then, I didn't like being there, but it was an interesting experience. An experience that I will only experience once, while donning the white uniform of MSSMB. Then, time had to come.

"Band 97, Montfort Secondary School .... "

"Bronze."

Okay, I admit. I was disappointed. I feelt like that we have brought down the band's standard, the standard that past seniors worked hard to achieve that Silver. But the bus ride back home seriously cheered me up. Dunno why but I notice that the real spirit of Montfort is that we are always happy, and always have fun no matter what.

So, 2009 ... MSSMB work hard for whatever you all want to achieve.

So, today OM spontaneous. Rocked man. Damn fun. Waiting at the holding area was damn funny. Just making of people and ... ahhh the revelry was just beyond funny to describe. To cut it short : we pissed the people around us off. Well, kind of anyway.

Stayed back till 10.45pm do the damn props. We're only like 90% done and we haven't rehearsed with the props and everything ... dammit la.. so must head down to school at 6.30am tomorrow.. Don't feel like sleeping. Too anxious to start on my side-project (yay and the MYEs are around the bloody corner..slack more alif.)

So AGE QUOD AGIS and lift the MONTFORT OM [div3 in particular] standard up high. (so the bloody gold-paint stealing juniors can't reach us :p

We will bring glory.

SYF 2007.

I am nervous as hell. I can't sleep. All I think about is band.

8 months of preparations will be all gone in 10 mins.

I don't care what we get, because I know we will play with pride.

What Mr. Sukit said just now something like "Don't come to me and cry or say we should have played better .. because I will slap you." or something like that. Yep, I won't regret what I have played.

I will feel empty without nothing to prepare for band. No SYF preparations ... will suck.

So, to end this last post before SYF 07...

SYF 2001 - "And the Multitude with One Voice Spoke" - James L. Hosay : BRONZE
SYF 2003 - "Persis Overture" - James L. Hosay : SILVER
SYF 2005 - "American Riversongs" - Pierre La Plante : SILVER
SYF 2007 - "The Flight of the Falcon" - Robert Thurston : ???

Good luck, and play on

Just felt like doing that heh.
Today's 3.30-9 practice was good, improved alot. Our Sunrise was very nice, FOTF still needs work.

Looked at today's SYF results and I'm getting nervous. 2 GWH bands became Silver bands. 12 of the bands maintained their status, 4 improved, 5 deproved (including the 2 bands I mentioned), 2 new bands and 1 not confirmed (either Gold or GWH)

First & Only SYF with MSSMB .. hope it's a good one.

post-jubilation becomes pre-depression

The exchange was good. I'm not talk about the bands individually because they know they're good and other people know they're good. As usual, Montfort was probably the worst band there. Actually our Sunrise is okay but our FOTF improving slowly. Intro was good, the fl+clar+hrn+triangle part was very messy, hrn+alto1 melody part .. I was damn out of tune, the eupho+trumpet was nice, -all was ok-, until the trumpet+hrn flutter to the note. I didn't look at conductor and I came in 1 crochet late! Dammit lar ... then all was okay until the usual bass-screw-up at 142. Then bass entrance with quavers came in damn soft and all hell broke loose when percussion or whoever rushed like mad confusing the melody and bass. Then all was good after that. And oh yea, tambourine dropped.

3 or 4 parts need serious work. I want that silver. A gold may not be in reach if there is some divine intervention. 3 practices, approx. 15 hours of practice time until SYF.

I am in need of some de-stressing.

zhyper away.

title-less 180th post.

(Technically speaking) Yesterday was the best OM meeting ever la! Because we're not cooped in school and we are free to roam wherever we want basically.

So to sum it up : Met at PS (cept BK&Pat), bought stuff at Spotlight and Daiso, went to Kovan to wait for Pat, went to Pat's aunt's to have our meeting & did alot of stuff there (I'll let your imagination run wild)

Got home at 9, after a short roam at PS. Been sneezing the whole day, and I feel feverish (even though the dumb thermometer states nothing above 37.6ÂșC. Maybe because I'm stuck in an air-conditioned room. Lucky not coughing, I think have the flu (+sore throat) and I'm not making it better buy drinking peach tea and chendol lol.

wonder why I'm up this late even though I have an exchange later (info extension for MSSMBers) just because I slept at 10.30pm and woke up at 2.30am so that equals to 4/5 hours of sleep? And why I am roaming the internet for, can play MU!

Rushstressruchstress

5 hours of blowing my brains out and I'm done with my online tasks!

Anyway, my mum said MOH might ask my whole family go for some blood test to see if we had contracted TB. Damn troublesome, and I hate needles.

Catch 22 post coming up next!

JUBILATION!

My dad's finally back from the hospital after 6 days. He has been diagnosed with TB and now every morning he has to go to the polyclinic to take his medicine. For 6 months.

Anyway, E-learning day is tomorrow and yes, can wake up late hence I get to sleep late (or not sleep at all heh). Then after the revelry of online tutorials and worksheets, wanna head down to PS to buy the Lina Ng theory book for SSW theory lessons. Then maybe after that do off some of the 'holiday' homework.

sleepy sleepy

last day tomorrow!

Dad got back sputum test results and came out nothing. Then he had go for CT scan. Now he's held back some more -_-. But he say there's a possibility he may be back tomorrow. He's much healthier now but dunno kept going for tests.

Anyway, today's impromptu band performance was bad. Suddenly we got called back from A math class. Then tired out from rehearsal...

Last day of the work week!

Monday, April 02, 2007

the 3 day work week

1 day out of this 3 day work week gone. yep.

my mum told me they took 8 small bottles (I think NEWater-sized bottles) of the whatever-liquid from my dad's lung. Heh, heck the fake-oral-cancer-model, would you want to harbour litres of brown filthy liquid in your body for years and then fall in when you're 40 when you have just started 'living'? (they say life starts at 40 y'know) The results from the sputum test he took today will be out tomorrow. Hope it's not cancer, though he isn't showing any sign of cancer. Yea, I would rather have him be diagnosed with TB/pneumonia than cancer. Like, not so severe or deadly? Like duh.

Anyway, gonna do some homework then gonna arrange Imperiality for wind band heh. Hopefully.

Post 175

MUSE was great! Even though there were minor glitches like the falling of chimes, conductor score nearly flew away from Dr. Lee and dropping of sticks (okay I'm listing alot of bad stuff) But hey! It was a great concert. Best one I've ever seen plus the longest .. 3 hours! Favourites were Eric Whitacre's "Ghost Train" by the ACS (IB) Wind Ensemble, ACJC's "Feste Romane" and the combined AC schools with The Phantom of the Opera! Big band, superb intonation.

okay I'm damn tired :D
