give me a new soprano sax reed

yes, this was blogged at 4.18am

anyway, why am I up at 4.18am? because my dumb-self slept at 9 and woke up at 3.50am.
my cough got worse, there's more phlegm and I have to go to school in another 3 hours+
and there's PE -_- I feel like giving today a miss but I'll be missing science(chem/bio) and physics prac (but it's in the classroom, about SPA)

I can't afford to miss today, and there's SS also .. 1 lesson a week.
my timetable is made so when one misses school, he misses alot of things IMO.
especially Monday (3E2 people will agree)

anyway, today got ensemble/quartet scores! YAY! compensate for my stupid arrangement of When the Saints Go Marching In. Fly Me To The Moon and The Entertainer. Fly Me To The Moon is SATB/AATB and The Entertainer is erm .. Sop,Alt1,Alt2,Alt3,Tenor,Bari,Bass ..
The Entertainer looks easy but Fly Me To The Moon sounds nicer and has more appeal. but dunno which sec 1 like slow smooth jazz.

lucky I woke up at this hour. I need to rewrite my compo, write a possible journal entry, do chem (I THINK) and drink more water.

; and I also think later got OM..

Oh my gawd

oh my god.

I mentioned my mum entering some Digital Life contest and she won a Samsung computer screen. I thought it was some random screen you can buy at a Harvey Norman outlet for less than $200.

but no.
it costs around SGD767, an amount I WILL NEVER SPEND on a computer screen.

oh yea.

it's a fricking SAMSUNG SyncMaster 971P!!
you dunno? I also dunno ... before my mum googled it.
she collected it today, so after slacking at the bandroom, I can go home to a nice screen.

:)

watch the video too.

awesomenessness.

bye, gotta do 7 E Math questions, 2 A Maths questions, a letter and a summary to write.

damn.

Homework @ 2pm
Run @ 5pm

Arranging "When the Saints Go Marching In" for alto sax, tenor sax, horn, trombone, euphonium, baritone sax and tuba (opt.) for orientation @ erm .. now?

got the intro, which is a "jazz funeral" and printed it also. next, is the main part of it, lively and jazzy. Ivan on alto sax, YX on tenor sax, Gary on horn, Shaun on trombone, Joseph on euphonium, Me on baritone saxophone and Andrew on tuba (tuba part is optional though highly recommended)

I gotta do stuff(z)

with longer pants comes a longer list of homework on the first week.

today is saturday. usually saturdays people would wake up late. okay maybe now, school season just started, people would have tuition/cca/classes.

today, I had to go to 3 things. at the same period of time.
1.) Odyssey of the Mind meeting @ 8am in school
2.) Band banner do-up @ 9am in school
3.) SSW practice @ 9.30am at Sembawang CC

wah sian.

but I didn't go to any because I had to go the doctor's, my tonsils were inflamated and it hurt real bad in the morning but now it's okay. so now news about OM yet, banner making for band wasn't compulsory but I think as a member I should some stuff yeah? and SSW ended practice early? weird. wonder what songs did they try out.

anyway, got $250 for merit bursary thingy at CHIJI OLN, then went for lunch at Hougang Mall LJS. AND THEN went to the library to pay off my *cough*$11.75*cough* fine. so just browsed the art section because that's where the comics are found, heh. but cheng siang library la, cant expect much. after getting 2 comics (a book from the For Better of For Worse series and something which looks like The Far Side Gallery type books) decided to use those computer search and see what cheng siang has on gustav mahler BUT the computers .. 1 computer had a faulty keyboard and one more, when I typed, chinese characters came out .. so didn't bother to try. but when I was browsing the arts sections ... I found a book on Gustav Mahler! beside it was Ralph Vaughan Williams and Dmitri Shostakovich. so borrowed the one on Mahler and Shostakovich. also borrowed a book on the masters of jazz saxophone.. nice book.

one thing to add, dickson wants me to set up an ensemble on orientation day. HOMINA HOMINA HOMINA .. so yeah. I arranged one yesterday night called 'So What?'. Original instrumentation is for alto sax and piano. but I arranged for 2 alto saxes and 1 tenor sax. it's a grade 2 piece more on tone and stuff. can use as warm up also. 2nd one is like a swing piece. still arranging it though. original instrumentation for sax quartet (sop, alt, tenor, bari .. thus SATB format) but since our school's sop sax is in repair .. arranging for 2 altos, 1 tenor and 1 bari. uber coolnezz. wait, coolness.

moving on, I got 6-7 episodes left of South Park season 6 .. so yeah. But gonna study bio and physics later. and do homework ... yes, around 7-8 pieces of it.

Apothegm for the day - I need sleep.

2nd day of school, still surviving .. barely. my eyelids were starting to get heavy during physics and bio maybe because it was boring or maybe because of my serious lack of sleep (had only 2-3 hours of sleep yesterday night) dunno if I'm gonna survive this academic year.

so far, my sitting partners are okay. only one is beyond my control (meaning, I didn't choose to sit with him) but he's okay. his name is russell (how many 's's or 'r's, I do not know). so sitting with him for assembly and english (since both periods are with mrs. lee) chem and ss with poh shen, physics with gary and bio with melvin. so far so good I guess.

anyway, on to my favorite topic but it harbors bad news. 1.) heard we're gonna have practices on saturday and scrap off wednesday and friday's practices. meaning, I have to quit SSW; 2.) ms ong wants us to quit SSW, as said by aaron. may not be true, but if we must focus on SYF, I don't mind asking for a leave until SYF is over.

now it seems the politics at mssmb has gotten bad.

the quick and short post

it's only the first day and I barely have time to update or even come online.
dude, that's .. messed up.

first day + band
home by 6, slept at 6.30pm and woke up at 12am .. hmm around 6 hours+ of sleep?
and sleep didn't work like 'I slept just now and now I need not sleep', for me today. I am sleepy at 2.30am but I'm stuck with holiday homework while listening to Vaclav Nelhybel's Symphonic Overture.

tomorrow there's English, PE, Chem, SS, Phy prac, Bio .. I think that's it. Sigh, I better get use to upper-sec life already, the heavy books + late hours. lesson end late .. like Monday's lessons end at 4.30pm, Tuesday 3.30pm, Wednesday 2.30pm, Thursday 3.30pm and Friday .. 1pm (as usual). But there's band on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So .. Monday and Wednesday, I end at 6 and Friday at 5 (except this Friday which is at night)

ahhh, no free period for me ..

anyway, Saturday can leave SSW early ! yay ! got the bursary thingy so at CHIJ OLN which is near my home and starts at 1.30pm? will cab from SCC to there, so can have maximum time with whatever piece Mr Andrew Ng will give us on saturday.

hmm, I think the band (montfort) is gonna pick up speed soon. I see more stuff to do now, and by the way .. WE REALLY NEED SEC ONES for SYF. Okay back to topic, I see functions like exchanges and training camps. Erm, but where are the overseas trips? Nevermind. No Montfiesta X this year though, but a performing arts of montfort production. Montfiesta X is next year .. where we are bringing back alumnis. Ms Ong says it will be big and grand because we have more time to prepare for MX. When those 2 words hit me (big+grand), pieces that were big just started rolling in my mind. Symphony No. 5 by Dmitri Shostakovich, Trittico and Symphonic Overture by Vaclav Nelyhybel, Carnival of Venice, Persis Overture .. or any symphony/overture/chim piece... though I guess Montfort won't try to attempt Shostakovich's Symphony 5 .. maybe others? Sec 1s will attempt 1812 Overture(+ 100 lol points)

okay, I got alot of homework to do.
8 weeks of homework in 4 hours.
god speed.

New Year Resolutions for 2007 and some other stuff.

probably my finalised list of resolutions. gonna put it up at the sidebar so I can check back anytime of the year.

- memorize all major scales and play them properly (especially Concert A) (so far Concert Bb, Eb, Ab, C and D)
- memorize all minor scales in melodic and harmonic form
- double tongue better/faster
- triple tongue better (speed is madness now)
- learn more about history of composers, instruments etc.
- get A's in 4-5 subjects
- pass Add. math and try to get a B for E math?
- malay to improve drastically
- excel in Pure History (because I took the chance to take it so I better do well)
- better up on instrument playing
- not to spend money freely like I'm Bill Gates spawn or something
- spend less than $4-$5 on a school day? heh
- save about $5-$10 a week
- lessen up on the computer time
- be more sociable, for crud's sake
- not to procrastinate (oh god, I think this is so bullshit)
- hand in homework on time for like 80% of the year
- save up money for a Selmer Paris mouthpiece (around like, $300-$500 dude)
- play french horn properly
- read more books (I haven't finished a book in like a year)
- study every week and 'review' every lesson (I can't believe I just typed that down)
- sleep early (self-imposed curfew : 11pm) and wake up at like 7?
- fulfill my daily prayers (I seriously need to clean up my life in alot of aspects)

a shitload yes.

going to head down to vivo again tomorrow to San's bookshop. I know there are other outlets but I saw a book in particular about adolf hitler and and another about napoleon dynamite bonaparte.

it's 3.50am, I wanted to tell the whole world that my season 6 could be done in 4 hours buuuttt, the estimated time just rose to erm.. *cough*6 days*cough*sneeze* .. ahh life's boring. ch5 has nothing much to offer.. cant be bothered to check what cable tv has to offer .. sooo maybe re-watching 2 South Park episodes. around 40 minutes of fun, but the current Ch5 movie ends at 5.30am and 6am there's Punk'd .. Selma Hayek, Eva Longoria and Mario. DUDE .. EVA LONGORIA. HAHAHA okay okay whatever.

by the way, catch 'Stranger than Fiction' starring Will Ferrel. It's a good movie, the use of satire is good though some parts of the movie needs to think (for a bit). caught this at 9.35pm with the twins, Joshua, Tianze, Jocelyn, Mitchell and Gladys few days back.

done yo.

flippityfloppityfoo

I can't believe I watched the whole of season 7 (-3 episodes) yesterday night. from like 2.30am - 6am, then slept and woke up 2.30pm. argh, school's on wednesday and I still have an irregular sleeping schedule.

anyway, 2007 has been good so far. i went to Vivo city for my 1st time. yes, my 1st time. I'm late/old/so-last-month/whatever. went with my family, just for a new year's outing. went to candy empire and I bought a butterfinger, a baby ruth, a 3 musketeers, 1 metre licorice (black) and licorice chews, which by the way tastes like coffee + medicine. yeah, those were what I bought for myself. only ate 1 licorice chews and the butterfinger.

then walked around vivo city, nothing much lar. finally bought a new wallet. at ripcurl, costed $70, thank god dad bought it for me. then ate dinner at fig&olive. ate creamed chicken, bro had the beef spaghetti, mom had corned beef and melted cheese sandwich and dad had mushroom soup.

then ate dessert at ben&jerry's. that place seriously reminds of raisins from southpark. like a real-life raisins (for those southpark watchers, whats the main thing about raisins? and thats what I'm speculating about ben&jerry's)
then we just sat at the seats in front of that swedish ship, götheburg. then went home, cause it was like 10.40pm then, nothing much open. and I really wanted to get a book from San Bookshop.

so quite a cool new year's day. wallet, ice cream .. chillin'. tomorrow gonna get uniform and it's my bro's birthday.

to continue with expenditure, I wanna get Jazzablanca (scores+parts) and '3' trio. maybe getting the whole Alun Cook "Surface Tension" suite (1st mvt - Try Hard, 2nd mvt - Try Harder and 3rd mvt - Jazzablanca) online from sibelius.

whoop.
