numbers make you cry

Number 1, AMath sure fail though I know it was easy. I don't mind failing tests (though I'm not gonna take it up as hobby) but I don't like failing tests that people thought that was super easy. Like today's A Math test (and my chem).

Friday, 2 tests. Not so worried about E Math as opposed to Physics which I heard very negative comments about the test. SBQ for physics? 3 mark MCQ .. need to work my butt off to pass this test.

Few more days 'til the end of term 1. Seriously, the days pass by too fast. So, Friday camp till Saturday night. Saturday rest until Monday morning for E Math class (which after that, helping juniors during day camp no.2) Then leaving for KL on the 13th. Then come back from trip, few more days left to study/lepak (slack around) then it's term 2, a warning that SYF/OM Competition/MYE's are coming.

cool huh?

All-night becomes Until-four

Back from dinner with Gladys, Songlin and Tianze at Northpoint. A productive sectionals actually. Realized that Cadenza solo has to be at a tempo (but up to me) and I understand the story behind it.

Yes, camp. I haven't packed my bag :D
I'm going to lar, and I don't think I'm sleeping. I need to pack and practise.
Ya, I think I'm nuts. Night practise. But no choice, my alto sax parts can be improved.

I hope Mr. Sukit approves my appeal.

If he doesn't, at least I had my fun with the alto.

My alto tone damn nice ..

HAHAHAHAHA.

Hello.

A day to myself, like finally.

Not going out, not going to spend money and no band.
Maybe band music lar.

Money money money

I owe Wee Ong $24, for chalet.
I owe Rainald $15, for band camp.
I owe Joshua $3, for yesterday's dinner.
I owe Cheng Fu $1.20, for yesterday's drink.

And I think I owe alot of money to Gary and Gerald. But no one's keeping track.
So who cares.

Got a new air conditioner so finally can sleep properly, without waking up every 2 hours because it's bloody hot.

Need to practise more saxophone, i want to bring home Sembawang CC's saxophone ...
Don't want to lose face to the 2 AMK baritone saxophonists.
AHHHHH

Songlin say if SSW finds a new baritone saxophonist, he will promote me to tenor or alto.
Still in a daze about this. My loyalty has shifted and settled on baritone, I dont know if I should move again.

Alto, Tenor or Baritone?

Everyone needs a friend

He doesn't always look like that. He's a pro euphonium player and a great friend.

At least I found 1 booklet. I found the pink (afternoon concert) ticket booklet, which was misplaced more recently than the blue (evening concert) one.

So now my room is in mess. Guess what, it was nestled safely in my drawer. The blue one next, find find find.

By the way, best post-sectionals ever just now.

My DOTA skills are still shit but at least better than when I started. But those 2 people treated me like I'm of a same standard. HELLO, 3 days 4 matches. I'M LEARNING. I'm not inclined in games like most people.

YES.

So I need to practise more saxophone.
And DOTA.

Where are you Blue?

Nothing to look forward to

I guess some MSSMB members would be wondering I didn't come for today's practice. Out of the 6 practices, I didn't attend 3. Two with reasons and one without a reason. The first practice I didn't attend was because I was sick with a runny nose and a splitting headache. And the sambal I ate the night before didn't help.

But sick also must go right? I feel lousy.

Second one was because I overslept. Not a good reason but I overslept, can't do anything.
Again, I feel lousy.

Today, the third time, I woke up at like 7am with my mum practically at my face telling me to accompany my grandmother to my aunt's house for some celebration. First time I woke up early for band she does this. My mum called Ms Ong and yes, set to go.

I'm just waiting what others have to say.

Anyway, I got all movements from Gustav Holst's The Planets Op. 32! Yeah, it's freaking nice. My favourites are Jupiter, The Bringer of Jollity (movement 4) and Mars, The Bringer of War (movement 1). I have the score for Jupiter, now I need 6 more. Anyone has the baritone saxophone parts for Mars, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

One funny thing when I read this :
Uranus, The Magician.

Your anus, the magician. Damn funny hor?

Anyway, I think I must follow Aizat and not sleep later than 12am. Maybe mine push to 1am.
:D

To Joshua Melvyn Pereira :
No.

Idle

What a nice day. Well ... kinda.

Woke up late, at around 12, 12.30pm? And wow, I could smell a nice fragrance from the kitchen. Went out and found out my mum made crab in sweet and sour sauce. Freaking nice. I think the idea put forward yesterday during 'The Castaway'. The part where he's rescued and his guests leave after the party and my mum saw the crabs they had. Humungous legs, and I said "It's a long time since I had crab" and went off to bed.

Thanks ma.

Oh yeah, my grand aunt was there.

Anyway, I've been freaking obsessed with symphonies. I have Ferrer Ferran's 2nd Symphony (La Passio De Crist), Alfred Reed's 5th Symphony (Sakura, which I find very boring), James Barnes' 3rd, 4th and 5th. Very little. I want those Shostakovich symphonies, which ignatius from SGBANDFUSION has stressed alot on the forum. He's like some Shostakovich 5th Symphony in D Minor activist :D But if I stay long enough in SSW, I guess I'll play a symphoy every Symphonie. Ferran's 3rd maybe?

Gonna try my hand at pasta later. The pasta itself and the sauce. AND THE MIXING OF BOTH WORLDS MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I damn passionate about food, cannot ah?
But seriously, yes. Boiling the pasta and cooking the sauce with minced meat. In for a feast.

I got to watch my waistline >.<>

So empty, now what?

I woke up late.
I'm filled with chagrin.

But found out Mr. Gavin wasn't there. Not even Mr. Pisit.
Edward was the conductor. But that's not a reason to skip, right?

I have came to realise,
there's 5 types of band members.

1.) The Gary
Comes for band every single practice and will do anything to keep other activites out of the way just for the sake of practising. Will attend even if they're close to death, and will die a peaceful death, keeping in their mind, "I'm gonna die but at least I practised Flight of the Falcon." This is a GOOD band member. Set for a major post. And yeah, brings home their instrument every practice.

2.) The Zhen Hui
Comes to band practice. Will go when he can, but when not there has a good reason. Maybe a future major. Brings home instrument once in awhile. This is still a GOOD band member.

3.) The [name deleted]
Attendance for practices are 60% - 90%. Plays okay, still has alot to work on. Will give excuses if he/she doesn't attend practises, most of the time not true. Usually comes late. But works the extra mile sometimes. Brings home once in awhile, or sometiems never.

4.) The [name deleted]
Comes 2 times every 4 to 5 practices. When attending practices, an Andrew would usually :
- Leave early
- Gives reason not to fall in
- Slack
Comes to practices when close to a competition or concert. Touch instrument once in awhile.

and last ..

5.) The [name deleted]
Is a band member but doesn't come for practice. People doubt that they are still alive. Never touch instrument for 5 months, then touch for 1 hour before leaving.

I hope I don't become anything lower than the Chuan Yi :)

Anyway, I need to understand 6/8, 7/8, 6/8 + 2/4, 5/8 + 6/8 time better. I'm too used to 4/4, 2/4 or whatever is _ /4. Now I also forgot about 2/2. Dammit. Triplets also.

My first symphony, need to do well.

32nd NCO POP, then to SSW.

g'bye.

So bent out of shape.

Yesterday sucked. It sure did. Well, maybe for band it was okay. But what happened after band sucks. I planned to go to Accent and get myself a Vandoren Traditional Baritone Saxophone Reed Size 3 1/2 and a Vandoren Jazz reed just for the fun of it. And I thought, the overlord of band equipment supplies sold individual Baritone sax reeds.

Oh, I was wrong. Very wrong.

Oh don't get me wrong. They do sell individual reeds, for clarinets and alto saxophones. I was like "Oh." and in my mind was "Oh shit.". They sold Baritone Saxophone reeds at a pack (5 in one box) selling at $48. I only had $27 with me. Dammit, I shouldn't have bought the Boys Like Girls CD yesterday. I tried to look strong in front of the sales rep by saying "Err, okay. I'll look around first." and looked at the display of mouthpiece pouches and reed purses, with no intention of buying any. But if they have reed purses for Baritone Sax, I seriously won't mind belting out the cash. Then I asked him about the AJBC DVDs Hafiz wanted, and they didn't have them. Their DVD supply weren't that much so I wasn't really surprised. Then some Caucasian guy came in and wanted to get a Yamah flute with an E mechanism (whatever that is) for his wife. This is when I got out of Accent, after the attendants diverted their attention to someone who's gonna pay a possible $2k+ rather than some kid who wanted to buy $8 pieces of branded wood.

I headed for the bus stop, feeling quite sad. Because it took 15 minutes by taking 74 to Ang Mo Kio MRT Station and then 36 minutes to Bukit Batok MRT Station followed by a 10 minute bus ride in 61 to Accent. I don't know if there is a faster way, but that's my route. I don't want to reach home with just relishing a $1.50 soggy burger and a $1.30 Slurpee. I took the time and wanted more than just a cheap meal to make my day. I looked into another alternative. More time-consuming and more expensive.

Sweelee.

The place, where I used to get my reeds. $15 per reed. $6 - $7 more than the usual Baritone Sax reed. Should I spend $14 more or just wait 'til tomorrow (at that time, it was Wednesday of course) and get the reeds at Accent before SSW sectionals?

Of course, I rather get things done fast under whatever circumstances. So yeah, 61 back to the interchange, a 53 minute journey on the MRT to City Hall MRT Station from Bukit Batok MRT Station. Walked along C.H.I.J.M.E.S. and headed for Bras Basah Complex. Sweelee still looked the same. Same guitars, same layout. Their reed stock was alot and they also sell the famous 56 Rue Lepic reeds. They also sell cheap brass mouthpieces that are dented and rusty at like $20. And they displayed various flutes and piccolos and I saw this.

Nice model.

Don't whine about the quality, my camera sucks without flash. Jokes aside, Sweelee's services is still the same. No one will come up to you and ask "Hello sir, do you need some help?" or "Hello, I hate my job but I'll try to help you" or something like that. Looked around and saw only 1 Squier guitar. Then I asked for help on the reeds. $12 per reed, after discount, mind you. So I bought a Vandoren Traditional reed and a Vandoren Jazz reed. Do the math, and now I'm broke.

On the way, took some shots. Some sucked because I was trying out the Scenery option. It worked on the pathway along C.H.I.J.M.E.S. and here are some of the nicest ones, in my opinion.

Yea, that's about it.

NEL MRT rides are getting shorter for some reason. The last 3 or 4 times were like over fast. Maybe friends made the fun which made time go fast and thanks iPod for playing Csardas 3 times.

And yeah, I got my Csardas score! But I need to arrange some parts to be an octave lower. High High A? Ohh hell no. It's a solo alto sax part, hence the higher register.

By the way, the reeds I bought came in a Fender guitar string pack, like this :
I bought 2 reeds at $24 and it came in a guitar string pack. Can't give me big carrier bag like iShop arh?

And the reeds :
This babies cost me 24 smackeroos.

Damn, I'm hungry.

mis movimientos esporádicos

heavenly.

band today at 9, and i was late by 10minutes. good lar.
no punishment. though ivan got whacked and terence got kicked.
even with my big size and easily seen body, i managed to sleaze my way out of punishment.
and i also didnt get punished for not attending friday's prac.
got reason lar.

went to Plaza Singapura with NEO (heavily accented on the first two letters) wee ong, joshua and the twins. KFC first then Yamaha then walk around in circles then home.

it's like damn fun sia. (heavily sarcastic with a pinch of salt)

i found out that :
- Gerald has a funny laughing style.
- Gerald likes to lie about his birthdate when it's damn obvious.
- Joshua likes to walk around alot.
- Gary is lazy to carry his horn
- Wee Ong damn horny.

going out tomorrow with whoever is following twins&gang.
and watch out for series of comic strips about the one most of us know and hate, with the initials ST. probably only MSSMB members who are in SSW would understand whatever comic is out.

OH SHITZ0RZ.

(and why issit harder to type in this font. queer.)

AMBIGUOUS

slacked for the whole day. only time i got out of the house was to fetch my brother from the bus interchange.

first night on my new bed was nice. slept like baby (without the thumbsucking and the constant cries, but i don't know why the term is used) but i woke up at 2.55am or sometime around there. and i realized the computer was still on, so what the hell. saw ivan ng's message and i also realized he has revamped his weblog.

tagged him, then just surfed the net. bloghopped also. watched videos on YouTube, the normal mediocre things i do when i'm online. gosh i need to get my hands on a game sooner or later.
can't ask ivan ng for recommendations cause i'm sure it's gonne be 'GUILD WARS!' or 'WoW!'.
nuh uh.

i need to head down to Accent on one of these days.

i made a Watchlist .. comprising of tv shows to watch for today.
god, i'm such a lazy ass.

AHMAGAWD just put ZH in another tight spot of being the 'domestic goddess' quote off him.

oh its 5.42pm, i'm late for High School Stories, MTV, Channel 20.

"You're so ugly you could be a modern art masterpiece." - Max

i'm not in the best of moods. band was, well .. alright. saw the absentees back, but only a few. Kamal & KO was back, but don't know if they'll be here for long. obviously, they were forced to come back. the clarinets needed another 3rd clarinetist and the lower woodwinds needed a bassoonist. i hope they'll change and just stay for good. they have potential, even in Ken Ong. maybe the fingerings are hard, because of the half-hole fingerings. Bassoon parts are usually the bass line and sometime the tenor melodies with euphonium. Ken Ong, if you're reading this .. the whole band + alumnis will help, if you are willing.

time for some pictures.
